About The Role
Join One of the UK’s Largest Food Manufacturers as a Field-Based Automation Engineer! 

Are you a driven individual with a passion for driving change and delivering engineering excellence? We are looking for a Field-Based Automation Engineer to join our team, supporting our manufacturing sites across the UK. Our sites are ever-demanding, complex and in some cases operate 24 hours a day - so it's vital we have a strong Engineering team who ensure our machines work to the best of their ability.
Reporting to the Group Automation Manager, your responsibilities will be:

  • Implement and optimise automation solutions across multiple sites.
  • Drive installation, commissioning, and maintenance of field process equipment, including fault diagnosis when required.
  • Collaborate with site and central engineering teams to deliver innovative engineering changes that align with sustainability and operational goals.

The field based nature of this role means that you'll be required to travel across the UK, visiting our sites on a daily basis. A full UK driving licence is required and you will use your own vehicle, claiming back mileage as needed (deducting home to office miles).
About You
As well as the ability to work at pace, we're also looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience in implementing network and control systems
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for innovation and improvement
  • Willingness to travel across multiple sites
  • Technical qualifications and electrical competence at a minimum NVQ Level 2 / BTEC Engineering certificate or equivalent
  • Broad knowledge of electrical and PLC / inverter assets, network systems and integration
  • Strong experience in ensuring safe working and safe systems of work are utilised and followed
  • Ability to engage positively with engineering management to conduct site infrastructure installations and maintenance
