Private Client Legal Secretary

A leading Yorkshire Law Firm is seeking a Private Client Legal Secretary to join their team. This role provides comprehensive secretarial support to an experienced Fee Earner within the Private Client Team, ensuring efficient handling of various legal documents and client interactions.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Perform copy and audio typing of letters, file notes, Wills, LPAs, and some conveyancing forms
- Utilise the case management system to progress matters efficiently
- Manage the opening of files and preparation of client care documentation
- Ensure timely progression of cases, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Handle incoming post as delegated by the Fee Earner and record all correspondence, including emails, on the case management system
- Execute practical steps to progress a file as delegated by the Fee Earner, which may include drafting Wills and LPAs
- Request searches and insurances from agents as needed
- Manage outgoing post to ensure it leaves the office on time
- Take telephone calls on behalf of the Fee Earner, assisting callers wherever possible
- Handle financial aspects of the files, including managing transactions for money in and out
- Prepare files for archiving, ensuring they are signed off and sent for archiving off the system
- Maintain the Fee Earner’s files, keeping them tidy and in good order
- Ensure that filing is up to date and manage any other tasks as reasonably delegated by the Fee Earner or within the practice, including providing cover for other secretaries and reception as necessary
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Legal Secretary, preferably within a Private Client department
- Proficient in typing and managing legal documents
- Familiarity with legal case management systems
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, capable of handling telephone calls and client interactions effectively
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
