Job Title: Production Planning MRP Controller

Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire

Salary £27,000- £29,000

Based in our manufacturing facility in Bradford, West Yorkshire the MRP Controller role will be primarily responsible for providing support to the Production Planner, by managing the MRP output from our ERP system (SAP).

The central function of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) Controller is to ensure material availability. The material quantities needed for production and sales must be manufactured / procured in a timely manner. To ensure this, the MRP controller will perform daily planning runs in our ERP system, releasing all planned production orders in line with the factory plan. The role involves significant administrative duties, which will require a person skilled in Excel.

Due to the fast-changing nature of the business, the role will provide the opportunity for future development in various secondary cross departmental responsibilities, including supporting Warehouse, Logistical and Industrial Engineering activities.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Check and control the daily MRP runs output.
  • Convert planned orders into production orders in line with Factory Plan
  • Sequence metal shop orders into daily batches.
  • Manage exceptional MRP runs and unscheduled production requirements.
  • Maintenance of the MRP system through daily checklists
  • Generate and print Shop Floor papers for all assembly work centres.
  • Rework and Refurbishment Administration
  • Tailor Made / Prototype Administration
  • Creation and Distribution of Factory Departmental Plans
  • Update Daily Production / Weekly Efficiency Reports
  • Provide Holiday Cover for Production Planning Critical Activities

Secondary Accountabilities and Responsibilities (future development)

  • Monitoring and supporting Warehouse KPI activities.
  • Supporting Industrial Engineering activities, including material routings
  • Support problem solving activities in Production, working with R&D and Sales on long term solutions.
  • Analyse and help maintain SAP Master Data to support MRP control accuracy.
  • Prepare and implement appropriate work instructions and operating procedures.
  • COGI management / route cause analysis (COGI – material movement error report)

Experience and Key Skills:

  • Understanding of Production Planning MRP Flow
  • Detail conscious, accurate and precise working method.
  • Excellent Excel / spreadsheet creation. Knowledge of macros desirable
  • General proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Good organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Experience of SAP desirable but not essential as training provided.
  • Good analytical skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Able to communicate at all levels.
