Business Development Engineer (UK)

Benefits: Basic salary £45k plus competitive OTE circa additional £45k, company car, private medical, 31 days annual leave and pension.

Are you a driven, results-oriented professional with a strong technical background and sales experience?

We are looking for a Business Development Engineer to lead sales growth and market expansion and client focus across a variety of industries in the UK. This is a key role for someone with a strong commercial mindset, strategic thinking, and a proven focus on client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sales strategies, driving growth and exceeding profit targets.
  • Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline, aiming to surpass annual revenue budgets.
  • Establish and nurture long-term relationships with key clients across various industries.
  • Set and manage both annual and monthly sales objectives aligned with the company's business goals.
  • Collaborate with different business units to ensure coordinated and maximised sales efforts.
  • Lead the preparation of proposals, presentations, negotiations, and closing of sales deals.
  • Provide market insights and support product/service development teams to shape the future product roadmap.

New Business Development:

  • Identify and assess new markets for existing products and services.
  • Work closely with senior management to explore and develop new partnership opportunities.
  • Create business cases for innovative growth opportunities.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of experience in sales or marketing.
  • Relevant technical qualifications, ideally within the heavy machinery sector (Ports, Terminals, Shipyards).
  • A proven ability to build successful sales relationships at all levels within an organisation.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and commercial skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, with a positive, results-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and spend significant time with clients.
