Role Overview: We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Science Technician to support the partner schools science department. This full-time role is crucial in ensuring that our science labs are well-equipped and functional, thereby facilitating effective teaching and learning. As a Science Technician, you will be responsible for preparing equipment and materials, maintaining lab resources, and ensuring a safe working environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Preparation: Set up and prepare laboratory equipment and materials for science lessons and experiments.
  • Maintenance: Manage and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including the safe handling and storage of chemicals and equipment.
  • Support: Assist science teachers with practical demonstrations and experiments, providing technical support as needed.
  • Inventory Management: Keep accurate records of inventory and equipment, and manage the procurement of new supplies.
  • Student Assistance: Support students during practical sessions, helping with setup, operation, and troubleshooting of equipment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educational Background: Relevant qualifications in science (e.g., BTEC, A-Level, or equivalent).
  • Experience: Previous experience as a science technician or in a similar technical support role is advantageous but not essential.
  • Skills: Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Safety Awareness: Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to laboratory work.
