A client within the Public Sector based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Planning Policy Team Leader to join their Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a planning policy environment.The RoleThe key purpose of the role is to provide effective management and leadership to the Local Plan team, ensuring the successful preparation, implementation, and monitoring of planning documents that contribute to the Development Plan for the district.Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Leading on local planning policy development and interpretation.
  • Managing the local team, ensuring resources, policies, and procedures are effectively implemented.
  • Advising senior management and elected members on the development and implementation of the statutory Local Plan.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders, including government bodies, developers, and partner organisations.
  • Preparing and presenting reports, including evidence for Examinations in Public and inquiries.
The CandidateTo be considered for this role, you will require:
  • A degree in Town Planning or a related field and eligibility for corporate membership of the RTPI (Royal Town Planning Institute).
  • NVQ Level 5 in Management or demonstrable equivalent experience.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
  • Strong experience in leading complex planning projects within a local authority setting.
  • Experience managing professional staff and motivating teams to deliver high-quality services.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, particularly in working with senior representatives, elected officials, and the public.
