About Us:Our client specialises in the design and manufacture of high-quality equipment and systems. We are seeking an experienced and skilled Works Manager to oversee production operations, improve efficiency, and ensure a safe and productive working environment.

Role Overview:

The Works Manager is responsible for organizing and monitoring workflow, delegating tasks, and improving employee efficiency while maintaining a safe and effective working environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Delegate tasks to ensure production deadlines are met.
  • Organize production sequencing to maximize factory floor efficiency in line with delivery requirements.
  • Monitor and report performance to the Managing Director and Operations Manager.
  • Provide recommendations for improving efficiency and reducing costs, including product design and component selection.
  • Address production issues and organize the repair or replacement of faulty equipment.
  • Recruit, train, and manage employees, including retraining or disciplining staff as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other departments, particularly Design and Purchasing.
  • Ensure adherence to safe working practices and maintain a safe working environment.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Proficient in fabrication and welding.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Horizontal boring
    • Radial drilling
    • Milling and lathe turning
    • Surface preparation and painting
    • Hydraulic and mechanical assembly
  • Leadership and delegation skills.
  • Strong communication and computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Familiarity with electronics applied to the control of hydraulic and mechanical systems.
