About Us:Our client specialises in the design and manufacture of high-quality equipment and systems. We are seeking an experienced and skilled Works Manager to oversee production operations, improve efficiency, and ensure a safe and productive working environment.
Role Overview:The Works Manager is responsible for organizing and monitoring workflow, delegating tasks, and improving employee efficiency while maintaining a safe and effective working environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Delegate tasks to ensure production deadlines are met.
- Organize production sequencing to maximize factory floor efficiency in line with delivery requirements.
- Monitor and report performance to the Managing Director and Operations Manager.
- Provide recommendations for improving efficiency and reducing costs, including product design and component selection.
- Address production issues and organize the repair or replacement of faulty equipment.
- Recruit, train, and manage employees, including retraining or disciplining staff as necessary.
- Establish and maintain relationships with other departments, particularly Design and Purchasing.
- Ensure adherence to safe working practices and maintain a safe working environment.
- Proficient in fabrication and welding.
- Working knowledge of:
- Horizontal boring
- Radial drilling
- Milling and lathe turning
- Surface preparation and painting
- Hydraulic and mechanical assembly
- Leadership and delegation skills.
- Strong communication and computer literacy skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Familiarity with electronics applied to the control of hydraulic and mechanical systems.
