The Role:
The Junior Retail Buyer will be responsible for identifying and sourcing products that align with customer demand and business objectives. The successful candidate will analyse consumer trends, assess product viability, and negotiate profitable trading terms with suppliers. They will also play a key role in driving consumer traffic, increasing sales conversions, and executing seasonal promotions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Selection & Market Analysis - Identify the right products by analysing market trends, customer searches, and sales data.
- Consumer Demand Insight - Assess whether a product will be successful and determine how to bring it to market effectively.
- Supplier Management & Negotiation - Build strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate profitable trading terms, and influence supplier decision-making.
- Driving Sales & Customer Engagement - Contribute to strategies that attract customers, improve conversions, and optimise product placement.
- Seasonal Promotions & Campaigns - Plan and manage promotions to boost sales during key retail periods.
- Bringing Products to Market - Work collaboratively across teams to ensure smooth product launches and availability.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Retail Buying Knowledge - A strong understanding of retail buying, product selection, and supplier management.
- Analytical & Commercial Acumen - Ability to assess customer demand, analyse data, and make informed purchasing decisions.
- Negotiation & Supplier Influence - Experience in negotiating trading terms and influencing suppliers to secure the best deals.
- Sales & Promotional Strategy - Understanding of how to drive consumer traffic, boost sales conversions, and execute promotional campaigns.
- Market Awareness - Strong knowledge of competitor activity, pricing strategies, and consumer trends.
- Proactive & Results-Driven - A motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment.
