Job Title: Senior Buyer - Public SectorLocation: Bradford/Remote (1 day a month on-site)Salary: £46,000 per annumExperience: Minimum 3 years in public sector procurementAbout the Role:Here at Hays, we are recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Senior Buyer to join a Strategic Procurement Team within a large-scale public-sector body based in Bradford. This role is pivotal in managing procurement activities within the public sector, focusing on buildings, construction, and corporate services. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in public sector procurement, demonstrating a track record of strategic sourcing and procurement project management. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with organisational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead procurement projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Manage supplier relationships, conducting negotiations and securing contracts that offer value for money and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and provide expert advice on procurement matters.
  • Ensure compliance with public sector procurement regulations and policies.
  • Analyse market trends and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the industry to inform procurement decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and systems.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in public sector procurement.
  • Proven experience in managing procurement projects within the buildings, construction, or corporate services sectors would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of public sector procurement regulations and policies. (e.g. PCR)
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • The ability to analyse data and market trends to make informed procurement decisions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • A commitment to professional development and staying current with industry best practices.
