Our client is a leading wholesale sandwich business in the UK, delivering fresh sandwiches daily through a national distribution network. The department faces the greatest challenge of meeting distribution deadlines, with the primary aim of this role being to ensure delivery by 1800 daily.

Key Responsibilities
  • Spearhead the department as the experienced site-based Head of Packing, reporting to the Head of Operations. This role is crucial to the organisation's FMCG business model and will make you a key member of the senior management team.
  • Lead a team of approximately 20 members, with the role being the final stage of product processing before transfer to the transport delivery team. This is a physically demanding role in a chilled environment, requiring a strong and resilient leader.
  • Effectively compile an end-of-shift report that highlights concerns, shortfalls, and replacements, and proactively communicate them to the customer service team for informing customers.
  • Plan, organise, and measure labour and material requirements, ensuring all team members are aware of their daily targets and responsibilities.
  • Coach all members of the team on department tasks, driving productivity through performance management and face-to-face appraisals.
  • Be a point of contact for the packing team members, consulting the HR department with any people management issues, and displaying our organisational values while monitoring the same behaviours in your team.
  • Conduct a final review/check of the department upon shift completion.
  • Ensure a clean working area in the food packing area through regular cleaning.
  • Maintain an effective team across 7 days, aligning skillsets with specific tasks and understanding demand against product to drive workforce planning.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction projects to deliver cost improvements.
Hours of Work

Rota - 5 days out of 7 with Sundays and Tuesdays being set working days. Approx. 1400 until completion of daily packing.
