Are you looking for a career in finance? This Finance Assistant apprenticeship provides clear progression through AAT qualifications. Our client has businesses in property maintenance, lettings, and in manufacturing of bespoke timber windows and doors. They are going through an exciting period of expansion into new areas, and they are looking for a Finance Assistant to support the finance team in building strong foundations for future growth. The package includes:
  • Salary – up to £20,000 per annum
  • Based: Bradford / office-based
  • Employer’s pension contribution.
  • 21 days annual leave, plus Bank Holidays.
  • Study support.
  • Working 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 9-5 (with some flexibility to start and finish earlier if agreed) with half hour lunch.
  • Free onsite car park and located within easy walking distance of the bus network.

Career Development:The Financial Assistant will report to the Finance Manager with opportunity for career progression within the team. Training and support through the AAT pathway as an apprentice will be offered including funding and time for day release learning.  Duties will include and will develop within the role:
  • Purchase Ledger - purchase invoice input; sending supplier statement reconciliations and chasing missing invoices; prepare payment runs for approval.
  • Banking - allocation of bank receipts; customer receipt processing; bank reconciliation; petty cash reconciliation.
  • Sales Ledger - creating and sending customer invoices; maintaining the sales ledger.
  • Month End - assisting with month end and year end reporting and budgeting
  • Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Dealing with customer and supplier finance queries via telephone, email and internal communication channels.
What you’ll need to succeed:
  • A desire to progress in a career in finance and wanting to be supported in training as an AAT qualified accountant.
  • Could be suited to anyone intending to start their studies or already part qualified.
  • You will have GCSEs at Grade C/4 and above in Maths and English plus ideally further education i.e. A Levels
  • Numerate and meticulous, with attention to detail, a logical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with IT packages such as Microsoft Office.
  • Personable, with excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to forge relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Be a quick learner, with the ability to manage their priorities and expectations.
