Accelerate Teaching is excited to partner with a dynamic secondary school in Bradford to recruit an experienced Science Technician. This role offers the opportunity to be an integral part of a forward-thinking science department, where you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of practical lessons across a range of scientific disciplines. The position is set to commence in September 2024.

As a Science Technician, you will collaborate with teachers to ensure that the learning environment is fully prepared and equipped for practical science lessons. Your expertise will help bring science to life for students, inspiring curiosity and fostering a passion for scientific discovery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing, setting up, and maintaining laboratory equipment and materials for practical lessons.
  • Ensuring that all health and safety standards are met, including the safe disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Providing technical support to both staff and students during experiments and demonstrations.
  • Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of the laboratory space, including organising and managing stock levels.
  • Supporting teachers in the delivery of engaging and effective practical sessions, ensuring that equipment is correctly used and cared for.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory practices and safety procedures.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
