**Transport Planner Required** - General Haulage Current Or Previous Experience Required

Bennett and Game are currently working with a leading General Haulage and Distribution firm actively recruiting an experienced Transport Planner to join their team to assist in the continued growth and development of their north Leeds site.

Our client are leaders in total Warehouse, Distribution and Supply-chain Operations, and are currently looking to recruit an experienced Senior Transport Planner to assist in the routing and driver management of the companies modern fleet of circa 40 mixed vehicles.

Transport Planner Position Overview

Within this role you will assist in managing total planning operations and managing drivers on a daily basis. You will be the senior figure in the Planning team and report directly to the Transport Manager. The responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following -

  • To conduct end of shift handover as applicable
  • To plan all drivers working on the day.
  • Issuing instructions to departments and ensuring that all work is executed as planned - ensuring that planning systems are updated and all necessary system changes are actioned in real time.
  • To ensure that all work is planned and amalgamated wherever possible, reducing the resources needed to execute the work.
  • To ensure all collection and delivery times planned throughout the day and managed accordingly
  • Ensure service levels are met as a minimum
  • To control vehicles ensuring any major changes are re planned as required to meet customer demands.
  • To ensure continual review of the day's workload as the day progresses.
  • To answer all customer queries, involving your Manager where necessary.
  • To ensure empty running is reduced to a meet Company targets.

Transport Planner Position Requirements

  • Transport Management CPC - Highly Desirable
  • Experience Managing or Overseeing a planning team - Highly desirable
  • Previous experience using TMS and Planning systems
  • Experience in General Haulage - Highly Desirable
  • Experience managing driver's hours, tacho and infringements etc.
  • Must have an excellent telephone manner
  • Excellent customer service skills
