We are looking for an experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant to work in a nurturing primary school in BD4.

The School is looking for a passionate SEND practitioner who is flexible and who can adapt to support learners with Additional Needs.

The successful candidate will be a resilient and compassionate and will display a positive attitude. As a SEND Support Assistant you will provide essential support to groups of children who have special educational needs. This may include children with EHCPs, looked after children, and children on the school SEN register.

Your role will be to ensure that all children have equal access to learning opportunities and thrive within this inclusive environment.

Your roles and responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Provide small group or 1:1 support to children with special educational needs
  • Build strong relationships with children you support and their families
  • Assist students with academic tasks, helping to reinforce learning objectives and adapt materials to suit individual learning styles. This may involve scaffolding activities to meet their level of need
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to parents and teachers
  • Collaborate closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement individual education plans
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected
  • Encourage the social and emotional development of students, promoting positive behaviour and self-esteem, this may include supporting children with managing and creating friendships as well as creating boundaries
  • Following all safeguarding and child protection procedures

For this role, you will also need:

  • GCSE's
  • An enhanced DBS that is registered to the update service
  • Two suitable references covering the past two years
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Qualifications relating to the role, ideally Level 2 or above
