About the Role:Veritas Education is proud to partner with a vibrant and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Bradford. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Officer to join their supportive team from January until the end of the academic year.

This role is integral to ensuring a positive learning environment by supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, promoting positive behaviour, and fostering a safe and inclusive atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage positively with learning and school life.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to implement behaviour strategies and action plans.
  • Manage challenging behaviours calmly and effectively, using restorative approaches to conflict resolution.
  • Act as a role model, promoting resilience, self-regulation, and positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to staff and parents where appropriate.
  • Contribute to creating a safe and inclusive school environment for all students.

About You:To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have prior experience working with young people, ideally those with SEMH needs, in an educational or youth work setting.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Be resilient, empathetic, and committed to making a positive difference in students' lives.
  • Have strong organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and restorative practices.
