Description

Bradford Council is looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Children in Care Team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of children and young people, ensuring they receive the care, support, and stability they need to thrive.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will take the lead on complex cases, providing guidance to colleagues while working closely with foster carers, residential providers, and partner agencies. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional who is committed to achieving the best outcomes for children in care.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a complex caseload, ensuring high-quality care planning and permanence for children.
  • Undertake statutory visits, assessments, and care reviews to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Work in partnership with foster carers, residential placements, birth families, and multi-agency professionals to support children's emotional, educational, and physical development.
  • Provide mentorship and support to less experienced social workers within the team.
  • Prepare and present reports for court proceedings, Looked After Child (LAC) reviews, and permanency planning meetings.
  • Ensure all casework meets statutory requirements and best practice standards.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Substantial post-qualification experience in Children in Care, Safeguarding, or Looked After Children teams.
  • Skills: Strong assessment, care planning, and risk management skills.
  • Knowledge: A thorough understanding of legislation, policies, and procedures relating to looked-after children and permanence planning.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to work flexibly in a hybrid model, attending the office for specific tasks and team meetings as required.
