Role Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support our pupils with diverse needs, including complex needs, Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) issues, challenging behaviour, and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). You will play a crucial role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, helping each student reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individual Support: Provide tailored support to pupils with EHCPs, adapting teaching methods to meet individual needs.
  • Educational Assistance: Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Classroom Environment: Foster a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver holistic education.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the teaching team and parents.
  • Daily Activities: Support pupils with daily activities, including personal care if required.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
  • Resource Preparation: Help prepare learning materials and resources.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working in schools or relevant transferable experience.
  • Understanding of SEN and experience with pupils with complex needs, SEMH, challenging behaviour, and PMLD.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
