An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Shipping Manager to join a leading textile innovator based in Bradford. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the global movement of goods via Sea, Air, and Road, following significant growth in the shipping department.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Confirming and processing overseas sales and purchase orders.
  • Obtaining quotations for the overseas movement of goods.
  • Liaising with shipping and transport companies to arrange shipments, both from the UK and overseas.
  • Arranging the booking-in of both export and import goods with the warehouse.
  • Advising shipping agents of cargo details for customs purposes.
  • Checking documents raised by shipping agents, such as Bills of Lading.
  • Preparing export documentation including invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other commercial documents.
  • Checking export documents before presentation to banks/clients.
  • Presenting import documents to clearing agents for cargo clearance.
  • Liaising with customers regarding current and future shipments.
  • Dealing with suppliers in the UK and overseas to arrange cargo for shipment.
  • Weighing-in of both export and import vehicles on a weighbridge.
  • Arranging couriers for documents and sample goods.
  • Collating and filing documents within the shipping office and accounts office.
  • Performing any other duties relevant to the department.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience working in Shipping/Import/Export
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
