We are working on behalf of a family run Accountancy practice based in the outskirts of Braintree who are looking for a motivated and friendly Trainee Accountant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to kickstart their career in accounting whilst pursuing professional qualifications and gaining knowledge and experience within a reputable practice.

As a Trainee Accountant, you will be an integral part of the finance team, providing essential support in the day-to-day financial operations of the company. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced accountants and gain valuable hands-on experience in a variety of accounting functions, from bookkeeping and reconciliations to preparing financial reports.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are recorded in compliance with company policies.
  • Help with VAT returns and compliance with tax regulations.
  • Assist in accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payment and accurate invoicing.
  • Provide general administrative support to the accounting team.
  • Continuously develop your skills and knowledge while working towards professional accounting qualifications (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA).

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience within Practice
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with an eye for detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g., creating spreadsheets, using formulas).
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Highly motivated with a strong desire to learn and develop a career in accounting.
