We are looking for a Yard Chargehand to join an engineering company based in Braintree. This telecoms and steel based company are a great fit if you have an interest in the metalwork industry and are keen to further your experience in a new environment.
You will need to have previous experience managing a small team within a steel fabrication type environment as you will be working in the yard to assist in assembling steel structures as well as looking after your team.
The company work 07:30-16:00 Monday to Friday. Starting salary will be circa 29,000 depending on previous experience. Overtime is available at 1.5x rate, when required by the business.
Duties will include:
- Working with hand and power tools to assemble structures
- Moving and sorting steel in the yard
- Managing a small team of staff
- Carrying out any computer based duties as needed
- Working from technical drawings
Experience needed:
- Able to work from engineering drawings
- Knowledge within steel based environment
- Attention to detail and excellent eye for quality
- Ideally hold a forklift license (counterbalance)
- Computer literate
