Housing Assessment Support Officer – The Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Housing Assessment Support Officer to join our team on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave.

Housing Assessment Support Officer – Key Responsibilities:

The main purpose of your role will be to support with the maintenance of the District Housing Register through the Gateway to Homechoice website, and your duties will include assessing housing applications, dealing with changes of circumstance, advertising empty properties for social landlords and shortlisting for some.

You will also carry out investigations to determine the priority of housing applications, liaising with landlords, Social Services, mental health teams and the police, identify applicants who are within 56 days of becoming homeless and place bids on suitable properties for those in need of additional support.

Housing Assessment Support Officer – You:

You will have excellent communication skills, as you will be liaising with customers, colleagues and staff from partner organisations on a daily basis. The service uses a dedicated IT system and you will need to have good practical IT skills, the ability to work accurately under pressure and a good eye for detail.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone organised, self-motivated, enthusiastic and pro-active in their approach to join our team.

A knowledge of housing issues and previous experience of working in a housing-related role would be an advantage but is not essential as training will be provided.
