Delivering holiday camps, stay and play groups and are working with Cambian to deliver Forest School training courses (levels 1, 2 and 3) Surrey Hills Forest School is genuinely committed to creating an environment where curiosity and imagination flourishes.

Incredibly proud of providing a creative and supportive environment to both staff children and their families we are looking for an experienced nursery manager to lead the team.

At the heart of the community and in a beautiful, woodland setting which is part of the Birtley Estate and rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED, we’d welcome someone who has lots of new ideas and enjoys every day in the outdoors as much as we do.

Responsibilities:

You will be reporting directly to the Owner of the business. You will be responsible for the care and education of children aged from 2 years old to 4/5 years old. You will also be responsible for the caring management of a small team of staff and the Forest School site.

  • Ensure Children's safeguarding, learning and development are top priorities.
  • Using Famly, online learning journal, ensure each child's progress and development is tracked and observed in a clear and concise manner.
  • All staff are expected to have Key Children. As manager you will also support your team of staff to fulfil this role.
  • All paperwork & documents relating to the EYFS completed and reviewed.
  • Risk Assessments and Policies and Procedures for the site and resources.
  • Build an excellent relationship with the staff team, including the Holiday Club management, and regularly communicate with all staff to ensure ideas, planning and concerns are addressed frequently.
  • Ensure the site is maintained with any necessary repairs/adaptations reported to the owner and repaired by our Handyperson.
  • Ensure the site is maintained, cleaned and tidied each day with the assistance of your staff team. This includes fetching water in the morning for handwashing using a rolling water tank to be filled in the carpark at the fresh water taps. At the end of the day emptying compost toilets daily, disinfecting and cleaning the toilets, handwashing and nappy changing area. Packing away any toys and resources that are not permanent fixtures, collecting up any debris or rubbish from the floors, sweeping the decking areas and taking full rubbish bin up to the carpark to dispose of in the large biffa bin.
  • Continue to develop the excellent Parent Partnership
  • Coordinate with the Owner of the business in relation to resources.
  • Educate stakeholders on Forest School and it's benefits
  • Look at training opportunities for yourself and the staff
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices

Experience:

  • Childcare Level 3 Essential 
  • Forest School Experience is preferred but not essential
  • Previous management experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Curiosity Approach, EYFS, Birth to 5 Matters, Development Matters is essential
