Finance Assistant
Location: Uttoxeter
Hours: Monday to Thursday (part time – 24 – 30 hours a week)
Hourly rate: £13.12 per hour
The role:
Our client is seeking a Finance Administrator to join their Finance team on a part-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with the Finance Manager and another Finance Assistant, ensuring the smooth operation of all finance-related matters.
The primary responsibility of the role is to provide effective and efficient financial and administrative support to the team, while also contributing to the delivery of high-quality customer service, both internally and externally.
Main duties:
- Record Sales Ledger entries from source documents and generate and distribute customer statements
- Follow credit control procedures to ensure timely payment of customer account balances
- Process customer receipts and reconcile customer accounts
- Process supplier invoices, reconcile supplier statements, and resolve supplier queries
- Prepare and distribute supplier remittance advices
- Provide administrative support including scanning, filing, data entry, answering calls, and handling incoming mail
- Actively seek opportunities to enhance the efficiency and quality of financial processes
- Communicate with customers and suppliers by phone and email, maintaining high levels of customer service
- Perform bank postings and daily bank reconciliations
- Record daily turnover to assist with variance analysis
- Complete credit applications and conduct credit checks for new customers
- Process payment runs
- Support company sustainability efforts by recording carbon monitoring data
- Manage and reconcile petty cash
About you:
- Experience using accounting software
- AAT qualification or part-qualified status is desirable
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, either through relevant experience or studying for an accounting qualification
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) at an intermediate level, with knowledge of lookups and pivot tables preferred
- Ability to input accounting data into the system quickly and accurately
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Confident, resourceful, and proactive
- Ability to work well within a team in a busy office environment, maintaining focus and high concentration levels
- Strong time management skills with the ability to effectively manage and prioritize workload
- Willingness to take responsibility and use initiative when necessary
- Flexible and adaptable to changes in procedures and practices, eager to improve skills
- Willing to take on additional tasks as required with a flexible attitude
