Mainstay Recruitment are working with a large, Facilities Management, hard services Contractor. They are seeking to add a Gas responsible person to their team in Lakenheath. The is a great opportunity for an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer looking for your next challenge.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Compliance: You will ensure that all gas works are fully compliant and meet the safety requirements of the site
  • Provide Technical Support: Offer technical guidance to ensure gas works are completed safely and in compliance with regulations.
  • Support Project Delivery: Contribute to the effective and timely delivery of statutory, mandatory, and reactive maintenance, as well as gas-related projects.
  • Maintain Safety Plans: Keep the Gas Safety Management Plan up to date and maintain accurate records.
  • Assess Competence: Evaluate the skills and competence of Gas Skilled Persons, manage their appointments, and review their performance regularly.
  • Oversee Safety Protocols: Produce risk assessments, method statements, safety programs, and Gas Permits to Work to a high standard.
  • Reduce Corrective Actions: Work to minimize the number of corrective actions (CARs) and ensure existing CARs are closed within agreed timescales.
  • Lead by Example: Demonstrate strong leadership and adhere to company values while achieving contract objectives.


What You Need to Succeed:

  • Qualifications and Experience: You must be a fully qualified Commercial Gas Engineer with an HND in Gas Engineering and SMSTS or equivalent qualifications.
  • Supervisory Experience: Proven experience in supervising site operations, including managing staff, planning, directing activities, and setting work priorities.
