A welcoming primary school in the London Borough of Richmond is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to enhance their facilities team. Reporting to the Site Manager, this role is integral in maintaining the school’s environment and ensuring a safe, clean, and secure setting for staff and pupils.

Hours: Shifts between 7am - 4pm and 10am - 7pm, Monday to Friday

Day to Day of the role:

Conduct regular routine inspections of the buildings and grounds, documenting findings and reporting any issues to the Site Manager.
Maintain the cleanliness of the playground, paths, and fire escapes, and manage the disposal of litter and waste in outdoor bins.
Operate and maintain school heating, lighting, water, and ventilation systems to the required standards.
Perform minor repairs, improvements, and decoration tasks as needed.
Report any health and safety concerns or defects to the Site Manager.
Manage the safe control of Legionella bacteria and operate the school fire alarm system, including weekly checks.
Ensure fire safety equipment is serviceable and in proper condition.
Oversee the work of in-house and contract cleaners, ensuring high standards of cleanliness.
Handle the day-to-day security of the school premises, including locking/unlocking gates and doors.
Act as a main key holder, managing the secure storage and distribution of school keys.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Experience in maintenance, health & safety, cleaning, and security.
Ability to perform physical tasks and handle maintenance equipment.
Good organisational and communication skills.
Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS clearance.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
