Job Title: Principal Accountant
Hourly Rate: 拢340.83 per day PAYE or 拢429.00 per day Umbrella
Location: The post will be required to work across two council premises in Brentwood and Rochford
Duration: 3-month temporary contract, with view for further extension thereafter
We are currently recruiting for a Principal Accountant on behalf of our public sector client based in Essex.
Key duties:
路 Formulate and develop the General Fund and Revenue Account (HRA) Capital Programme, monitor programmes and produce reports
路 Oversee and lead on the Treasury Management function, including the management of the Council's cashflows, its banking, money market and capital market transactions
路 Develop the Capital and Investment Strategy which includes the Treasury Management Strategy
路 Help develop the HRA's 30-year Business Plan
路 Plan and coordinate the final accounts process including liaison with external audit
路 Act as the leader advisor on technical accounting, including Collection Fund, Pensions and VAT
Key skills/knowledge:
路 Sound understanding of public sector (local government) finance and legislation
路 Knowledge of treasury management
路 Knowledge of technical areas of local government finance
路 Experience of dealing with auditors
路 Proven experience in the production of Annual Statement of Accounts
