The Account Director is responsible for managing and expanding a portfolio of high-value commercial insurance clients, ensuring long-term retention.

This senior role involves developing strategic relationships with corporate clients, insurers and MGAs to negotiate high value insurance packages.

The Account Director will drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, overseeing large-scale renewals, and mentoring account executives to enhance service delivery and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Client Management & Retention:

  • Act as a trusted executive for high-value clients, managing insurance and risk management strategies.

  • Lead policy negotiations, ensuring comprehensive coverage that meets the needs of clients.

  • Oversee renewals, ensuring continuity of coverage while optimising pricing and policy terms.

  • Provide guidance on policy structures, risk transfer mechanisms, and alternative risk financing

    options.

    Business Development & Growth:

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the company’s high-value commercial client base.

  • Develop and execute growth strategies targeting corporate clients in key industries such as real

    estate, construction, manufacturing, transport and financial services.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and marketing teams to position the company as a leading

    provider of commercial insurance solutions.

    Leadership & Team Development:

  • Provide mentorship and direction to account executives and junior team members, encouraging professional growth.

  • Play a key role in shaping and executing the company’s commercial strategy, aligning with overall business objectives.

  • Demonstrate a high-performance culture within the team, ensuring outstanding service delivery and client retention.

    Stakeholder & Market Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with insurers, MGAs, and specialist underwriters to enhance market access and secure competitive terms for clients.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks that may impact high-value clients.

  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and exclusive networking forums to strengthen brand presence.

    Performance & Compliance:

  • Ensure all client interactions comply with Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations and internal compliance policies.

  • Maintain accurate records of client policies and renewals

  • Meet and exceed revenue, retention, and profitability targets while upholding service standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education & Experience:

  • A-C in Mathematics and English

  • CCII/ACII qualification (or working towards) is highly desirable.

  • Experience in managing and growing a book of commercial business is required

    Technical & Industry Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of a range commercial insurance products.

  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices. Leadership & Strategic Skills:

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic, high-value client relationships.

  • Track record of driving business growth and profitability.

  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
