Job Purpose

As a Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a client portfolio, ensuring exceptional service delivery across both compliance and advisory work. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of approximately 280 personal tax clients
  • Overseeing the preparation and review of personal tax returns (approximately 80% compliance)
  • Providing tailored advisory services, including capital gains tax planning and other ad hoc tax matters (approximately 20% advisory)
  • Acting as the primary client contact, addressing queries and providing proactive solutions
  • Ensuring all compliance deadlines are met and opportunities for tax planning are identified
  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members to encourage their professional development
  • Keeping up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and advising clients accordingly

  • Extensive experience in personal tax management, preferably within a practice environment
  • Strong technical expertise in personal tax compliance and advisory services
  • Proven ability to manage a large and diverse client portfolio
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a client-focused, proactive approach
  • Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple deadlines effectively
  • Leadership and mentoring skills to support the development of junior team members
  • A recognised tax qualification (such as ATT or CTA) is desirable but not essential with relevant experience
