We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity at one of our client schools in the Brentwood district of Essex.

We are seeking an experience First Aid officer to join our client school as soon as possible!

The role:

  • Develop, review, and implement Health Education plans for students.
  • Ensure the secure storage and proper distribution of prescribed medications in school.
  • Assess and determine appropriate actions for students who are unwell, injured, or have medical conditions, coordinating with staff when necessary.
  • Oversee the daily operation and management of the First Aid room.
  • Maintain accurate records of all student health interactions and any subsequent actions taken.
  • Organize and coordinate vaccines and other preventive or medical interventions as required.
  • Regularly inspect and replenish First Aid kits to ensure they are fully stocked and all supplies are within their expiry dates.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary First Aid contact for students and staff, providing First Aid within the scope of certification, and collaborating with the Pastoral, Attendance, and Safeguarding teams to support students and communicate with parents as needed.
  • Manage and securely store prescribed medications, ensuring consent forms are completed, supervising medication administration, and maintaining accurate records of all First Aid interactions in the school system.
  • Oversee accident reporting and serious incident reporting under RIDDOR, liaising with the Business Manager for necessary notifications and identifying trends for preventative actions.
  • Respond to medical emergencies on-site, ensuring the appropriate actions are taken, including calling emergency services when required, and ensuring students leaving for medical reasons have parent/carer permission.
  • Coordinate Health Care Plans for new and returning students, assist with individual student risk assessments, and work with the Assistant Headteacher to ensure adequate First Aid training for staff.
  • Maintain a clean, hygienic First Aid room, manage clinical waste and sharps disposal, check and restock First Aid kits, and organize vaccines and other medical interventions as required.
  • Liaise with the school nurse regarding appointments and student needs, update First Aid policies, and provide a safe, calm environment for students while following school procedures.
  • Safeguard and protect students and perform any additional duties as directed by SLT to ensure the school meets its responsibilities.
