Job Description: Civil Quantity Surveyor
Location: Essex
Salary Range: 50,000 - 70,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

We are seeking dynamic and detail-oriented Civils Quantity Surveyorof all levels (Junior, Intermediate, and Senior) to join our growing team based in Upminster. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of challenging infrastructure and civil engineering projects, offering excellent career progression and a competitive remuneration package.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
    • Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies for civil engineering projects.
    • Provide cost analysis and financial advice to project stakeholders.
  • Contract Administration:
    • Manage contracts from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
    • Negotiate with contractors, suppliers, and clients to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Measurement and Valuation:
    • Perform detailed measurement and valuation of work completed on-site, ensuring accurate documentation.
    • Prepare interim and final payment applications.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks in cost and delivery, implementing mitigation strategies where required.
    • Monitor project costs against budgets and address any deviations.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals.
    • Provide regular financial reports and updates to senior management.

Requirements

Junior Quantity Surveyor:

  • Preferable degree (e.g., Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management).
  • Minimum 1 year experience in similar role and same sector.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.

Intermediate Quantity Surveyor:

  • 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying within the civil engineering sector.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and tools (e.g., NEC, JCT).
  • Solid understanding of construction methods and materials.

Senior Quantity Surveyor:

  • 5+ years of experience with proven expertise in managing complex projects.
  • Chartered status or working towards RICS or CIOB accreditation.
  • Exceptional negotiation and leadership skills.
