Design Technology Teacher - Independent School

Location: Essex (easily accessible through the Elizabeth Line)

Start Date: April 2025

We are currently seeking an exceptional Design Technology (Product Design) teacher to join a leading independent through school in Essex from April 2025.

They are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic teacher to join the team of three Design Technology teachers and two technicians to teach Design Technology in their well-equipped department. Their purpose-built workshops are equipped with laser cutters, 3D printers, drills, lathes, other machinery and class sets of hand tools. Health and safety for students and staff is vitally important.

The school focus on Product Design. Pupils study Design Technology as a discrete subject at Key Stage 3; they offer AQA GCSE Design Technology at Key Stage 4, and AQA A Level Design Technology Product Design in Sixth Form.

The Senior Leadership Team is strongly supportive of their progressive curriculum in Design Technology focused on innovation, sustainability and problem-solving, with hands-on practical skills and developing project management and self-management skills: an important part of the School's long-term strategy intended to prepare students with the skills they need to flourish in the modern world.

The successful DT Teacher will also be expected to assist in the support offered to pupils outside the classroom, including in the workshops after school. They should strive to foster a positive, orderly, and productive classroom environment.
