An Outstanding Secondary School in Brentwood Essex are seeking to appoint their next Female PE Teacher to start in January or sooner, dependent on availability. This is a temp to perm role and will be paid to scale from day one. This role is open to part time applicants and ECTs are welcome to apply.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

This Outstanding State Secondary School is for girls aged 11-16 with a co-educational Sixth Form is located in Brentwood and is a successful, happy school which treasures its historic buildings and traditions, but which combines this with recent investment that has enabled them to continue providing an excellent educational environment to both staff and students. It’s also a high-achieving, well-regarded and oversubscribed secondary school where students achieved exceptionally well with 90% of students securing a GCSE grade of 4 or above in both English and Maths and 87% achieving 5 or more GCSE’s at grade 4 or above. Students at KS5 continue to secure excellent outcomes at both A Level and in Level 3 vocational subjects. Students have access to an extensive extra-curricular programme which all staff are encouraged to participate in.

ABOUT THE PE DEPARTMENT/CURRICULUM

The School’s Physical Education curriculum is engaging, with a broad range of sports that are designed to excite and motivate the students. The team provide a stimulating environment, hoping to inspire the students to develop a lifelong passion for sport, health and fitness beyond their Physical Education within school hours.

Sports covered: Netball, Gymnastics, Cross Country, Hockey. Football, Rugby, Handball, Cricket, Basketball, Athletics (Track and Field), Rounders and Outdoor Adventurous Activities

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Head of Department and Senior Leaders are seeking an inspirational PE Teacher who will engage and deliver the curriculum as planned and ignite pupils passion for sport and keeping healthy. They are looking for the below:

  • Experience of successful practice as a Teacher in a Secondary School
  • Reflective practitioner
  • Strong subject knowledge and keep their knowledge and skills up to date
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessment
  • Act upon advice and feedback and demonstrate ability to coach and mentor
  • Adaptability to changing circumstances and new ideas
  • Enthusiasm, resilience, reliability and integrity
  • Engage in after school clubs and coaching where and when required

The above-mentioned duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive, duties and responsibilities of the post may change as requirements and circumstances change. The post holder may be required to carry out such other duties as requested by management that are broadly within the level of the post,

TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • You will need the following
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), essential
  • Relevant Degree
  • GCSE Grade C/Equivalent minimum in English and Maths
  • DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to undergo a new check
  • Strong knowledge of physical education principles, sports coaching, and health education.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage lesson planning and student assessments effectively.
  • Proficient in English with strong communication skills to engage with students of all abilities.
  • Experience in behaviour management techniques to foster a respectful learning environment.
  • A passion for sports coaching and promoting an active lifestyle among young people.
