This is a position where you will be working in a class, outside of class, group work and give 1:1 support to a student who has issues with behaviour, trauma, anxiety and depression. The SEN Teaching Assistant will be responsible for ensuring no work is missed with this student and should be able to find creative and innovative ways to educate and engage the pupil when their mental health and learning needs get in the way of their progression.

This role would be ideal for psychology graduates who are interested in a career in education or psychology, as there will be opportunities to shadow and work alongside educational psychologists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists.

Key responsibilities within the role:

  • Providing support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
  • Building and maintaining successful relationships with students, whilst treating them with respect and consideration
  • Have the highest expectation that every student will make sustained academic and personal progress
  • Ensure that every pupil is ready for the next steps in their learning and is supported to participate and contribute to
