Infrastructure Manager

Location: Hybrid to Brentwood

Role Purpose:

We are looking for an Infrastructure Manager who will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation's IT infrastructure is fit for purpose for current and future needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Work closely with the CIO to ensure that the IT infrastructure supports the wider business:
    • Development and regular reporting on the IT Estate down to endpoints, on prem/cloud servers, cloud based services, data footprints, data classifications, CPU usage, estate usage (websites visited, capacity metrics, reports executed), key helpdesk issues etc.
    • Development of tools to identify stagnating/redundant data across the organisation.
  • Ensuring that all backups and recovery plans are in place and regularly tested.
  • Reviewing backup and recovery plans regularly to ensure that they meet the return to objective (RTO) times and recovery point objectives (RPO) as the business evolves.
  • Ensure that access to data/information is controlled by Role Based Access security models.
    • Refinements of this model to include time limiting, access elevations etc.
  • Ensure that changes to the server/cloud infrastructure are planned for and rolled out in a tested and auditable manner.
  • Ensure that risks are managed via the IT Information Security Management System (ISMS) and reported into the corporate Risk function.
  • Support incident response investigations. Provide post-incident reviews and make suggestions for improvements to CIO.
  • Conduct security assessments of vendors, partners and third parties to ensure alignment.
  • Ensure that all IT assets are properly licensed and that regular reviews are conducted.
  • Ensure that all users have the appropriate hardware and that all said hardware is properly maintained and registered.
  • Manage the IT Helpdesk(s) to identify systemic issues and corresponding mediations.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrable experience managing IT infrastructure including servers, networks and cloud environments
  • Demonstrated experience in disaster recovery planning and business continuity
  • Proven experience with regulatory frameworks (e.g. GDPR, FCA regulations etc.
  • Experienced in managing third party vendors and suppliers
  • Experience designing and implementing security measures
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards e.g. GDPR, ISO27001
  • Experience in budgeting and cost management
  • Strategic thinking with ability to align infrastructure with business objectives
  • Proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential IT risks

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex security issues to non-technical business stakeholders
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and business partners working collaboratively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks
