We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Design and Technology (D&T) teacher with a specialisation in Product and Design to join a secondary school. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of design principles, the product development process, and the technical aspects of creating innovative products. The successful applicant will inspire students to explore their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills within the world of design and technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons in Product Design and related D&T subjects, ensuring a high standard of teaching.
  • Develop and implement innovative projects that encourage students to think critically, solve problems, and develop technical and creative skills.
  • Provide a supportive, inclusive learning environment that caters to the individual needs of all students, encouraging confidence and resilience in design.
  • Organize practical lessons involving tools, materials, and technology to allow students to prototype, test, and create real-world products.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback to guide improvement.
  • Support students in preparing for examinations, coursework, and external assessments.
  • Promote the importance of sustainability, ethics, and innovation in design processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of curriculum developments and advancements in the field of Product Design and Technology.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to support cross-curricular initiatives and share best practices.
Key Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Design and Technology, Product Design, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching Design and Technology at the secondary level, particularly in Product and Design.
  • Strong knowledge of current curriculum standards and exam specifications for GCSE and A-Level D&T.
  • Excellent practical and technical skills in the use of tools, materials, and CAD software.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students of all abilities.
  • Passionate about developing students' creative, technical, and problem-solving skills.
  • A commitment to personal and professional development.
