Key responsibilities include:
Performing component and device testing in line with the test specifications and methods defined by the development engineers.
Assisting in the design, procurement and assembly of prototype devices.
Providing detailed test reports to feedback to the development team.
Assist in developing and validating new test methods.
Perform development testing on new products as well as verification of individual components within the product.
Perform calibration of products and test equipment within the organisation.
Assist in fault finding and product improvement activities.
Maintain a safe, clean working environment and ensure that work is carried out in a safe manner.
- Person Qualities:
You should have a degree or HNC/D in an engineering discipline, ideally in electrical/electronic or mechanical engineering.
1-year industrial experience in a suitable engineering company / university / HE establishment with experience of technical report writing and excellent IT skills is ideal.
Comfortable with using electronic test equipment for repair and troubleshooting.
Some experience with writing/using code is ideal, i.e. Arduino (API) and MATLAB.
Capable of working independently on projects with minimal supervision and possess good skills for hands-on work.
Good organisational and time management skills are essential, along with exceptional attention to detail.
You must be a team player, able to organise your own workload and collaborate with others to deliver projects.
As a development test engineer, ideally you will have experience within an engineering test department and of testing electronic or medical products. Experience of working within a quality-controlled development system e.g. ISO9001 will also be beneficial.
As a development test engineer working in the R&D department you should be able to cope in an often face-paced and continuously changing environment.
