Ideal candidate will be a qualified Social worker with a minimum of 2 years experience of working in Childrens Services, including experience of undertaking parenting assessments and attending court.

Ty Seren is a Residential Family Centre based in Bridgend, South Wales, we support up to 11 families at any one time, where there are concerns in respect of a parents ability to care for their child. Placements are typically for 14 weeks and include a programme of teaching and assessment.
Job Description:
Our Social Worker role involves completing CUBAS Parenting Assessments & supporting the Parenting Programme as a member of our internal Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT). With a small caseload of no more than 5 families who are residents in the centre, families are parent/s with babies from birth to two years old.
Core responsibilities/tasks:
- To promote the Services mission, objectives, vision and values, both internally and externally and complywith all policies and procedures, guidance, code of professional practice, contractual requirements andrelevant legislation.
- To take the lead on any safeguarding issues arising in the centre with regard to children or adults at risk,ensuring the Ty Seren practice is in line with national, local and service specific safeguarding procedures.
- To be an allocated point of contact for allocated families, liaising with the local authority and involvedprofessionals routinely throughout placement as well as PfPs internal Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) andteam members to ensure the effective coordination and delivery of our support.
- To review family progress each week and to oversee completion of the Weekly Update Report.
- Assess each family and produce individual risk assessments and personal plans for support team
- members to follow.
- Maintain an overview of families and be able to give timely advice, guidance and support to team
- members to safely support the families in line with their assessed needs and to enhance their parenting.
- To undertake timely parenting assessments and midpoint reports of each family (including any relevantnon- resident parent and/or child) in line with instructions from the local authority.
- Support parents to meet their childrens developing needs, considering all aspects to parenting andindependent living skills, including delivering workshops.
Essential person specifications and core requirements:
- Ability to work openly and co-operatively with colleagues and make a positive contribution to the team.
- Experience of supporting individuals to reach their goals.
- Ability to be entirely non-judgemental and support families of all cultures and backgrounds; respectingdiversity and individual differences.
- Ability to understand the impact of trauma on individuals using the service and work in a manner that issensitive and supportive.
- Previous experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and risk management practices plusknowledge of child development.
- Ability to build relationships with families, with empathy and support, ensuring professional boundariesare maintained.
- Ability to read behaviour, understand triggers and adopt strategies to de-escalate challenging situations.
- Registration with Social Care Wales and understanding of the Social Care Wales Codes of ProfessionalPractice.
- Experience of undertaking parenting assessments.
- Ability to work flexibly (including days, nights and weekends) in order to take part in on call rota with othermembers of the MDT.
Desirable core requirements:
- CUBAS trained.
- Experience of managing cases in care proceedings.
- Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh.
