ABOUT THE POSITION

As the Financial Controller located at their head office in the West Midlands, this is a key role reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will form part of the finance leadership team. You will work closely with the CFO, the wider executive team, and other departments to provide financial insights and support informed decision-making.

A critical leadership role, which requires an experienced Finance Controller to develop and lead a significant team. You will have a key role in the company's financial management, ensuring accuracy and integrity in all financial reporting and helping to drive the financial strategy of the business. The role will also be varied, supporting the CFO with different change projects, and will be the primary relationship holder with the External Auditors and Tax Advisors.

Key Responsibilities will include -

  • Financial Reporting and analysis to senior management to support decision making, including management of the monthly financial close process
  • Lead and develop a significant team, including the company's financial operations, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement in all finance processes, to deliver a high-quality finance service
  • Risk management and internal controls, ensuring robust financial controls are in place and adhered to safeguard assets and enhance the accuracy of financial data. Also, to manage the company's insurance arrangements in conjunction with the broker
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely statutory financial statements in compliance with company and regulatory standards. Also, manage the external financial audit process and ensure direct and indirect tax compliance, working with external advisors
  • Oversee the company's treasury management, including FX and short-term cash forecasting
  • Champion process improvements and achieve the objective of being best-in-class
  • Finance support with multiple projects, providing excellent exposure across the Group

CANDIDATE PROFILE

For this Financial Controller opportunity in the West Midlands, you must be a qualified accountant (preferably ACA or ACCA), and Practice trained with a background in financial audit

Proven experience as a Finance Controller and significant post-qualified experience, and several years industry experience, including excellent team leadership experience. Prior experience in a B2B Services business or FMCG industry advantageous

A successful track record in managing and developing high performing finance teams within a dynamic and commercial environment.

Experience of working in a Group company environment, with a good track record in developing and maintaining a first-class control environment. Demonstrable knowledge and application of financial regulations, accounting principles and reporting standards

You must have a proactive attitude, be comfortable leading change in performance and processes, and work constructively within a large team

Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the confidence to express opinions clearly, and to forge strong working relationships across all areas of the business
