Research & Development Chemist

My client is looking for a motivated individual to join their dynamic team in a key role supporting innovation and product development. This position is based in the West Midlands region, with potential opportunities for occasional travel.

To be considered for the Research and Development position you will have previous experience formulating and developing polymeric products. You will also be degree educated in Chemistry or a relevant field – a focus on Polymer Science is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the R&D and Quality teams to enhance existing products and contribute to the development of new technologies.
  • Provide technical and quality support to production teams as needed.
  • Work closely with the Technical Service team to ensure seamless R&D support.
  • Develop strong working relationships with suppliers and contribute to new product development initiatives.
  • Participate in maintaining and improving their Quality Management Systems.

Skills & Experience:

  • Hands-on experience in polymers manufacturing.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and time-management skills.
  • Creative and adaptable, with a proactive approach to industry changes.
  • Familiarity with different types of coating materials, including solvent-based and water-based systems.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in customer interactions.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours when required to meet customer needs.
