We are working with a local authority council based in the Midlands who are looking for an enthusiastic Asbestos Surveyor who will be responsible for conducting asbestos inspections, surveys, and risk assessments on various council-owned and maintained properties to ensure safe and compliant environments for the community.

Asbestos Surveyor

Start: ASAPRate: Negotiable depending on experience (Inside IR35)Duration: Until May 2025 initially Hybrid/Onsite – Midlands

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed asbestos surveys (Management, Refurbishment, and Demolition) on council buildings and facilities
  • Accurately document findings and prepare clear, compliant reports, including location, condition, and risk levels of ACMs
  • Ensure all surveys and assessments comply with current HSE asbestos regulations and council policies
  • Liaise with council departments and contractors to communicate asbestos-related risks and necessary actions
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on asbestos management and abatement procedures
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, legislation, and best practices
  • Work closely with council staff, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure asbestos risks are managed appropriately
  • Identify, document, and report on asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) while adhering to strict health, safety, and regulatory standards

Qualifications and Skills:

  • BOHS P402 certification or equivalent is essential
  • Proven experience conducting asbestos surveys within commercial or public sector environments
  • Strong understanding of current asbestos legislation and HSE guidance
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare comprehensive reports and explain findings clearly to non-specialists
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
