Principal Building Surveyor

We are currently working with a Local Council who are looking for an experienced and skilled Principal Building Surveyor to join their team of property professionals looking after the diverse portfolio of buildings (commercial) including care homes, schools, libraries, offices and historic buildings, supporting the delivery of core Council services.

Principal Building Surveyor

Start: ASAP

Duration: 12 Months Initially

Rate: Inside IR35

Location: Derbyshire

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team of surveyors and technical experts to support and deliver the Property Asset Management Strategy
  • Reshaping varied property portfolio including historic listed buildings, a broad range of building types from traditional stone and brick to system builds and modern new constructions
  • Determine and specify in terms of quality and quantity, maintenance requirements necessary to meet the needs of the Councils building programmes and protection of its property and land assets
  • Manage the provision of design, feasibilities, specifications and drawings as necessary to address maintenance problems arising on the Council's property stock
  • Undertake and/or organise site surveys and investigations relating to structural problems and evaluate results.
  • Advise on complex technical aspects of new products, building methods and procedures and make recommendations on technical and legal aspects of method statements, safety plans and the like and monitor compliance on work in progress.

Requirements:

  • You will have the experience and enthusiasm to manage the team to provide an efficient and effective maintenance management and advice service, ensuring targets are achieved, and programmes of work and statutory compliance activities are delivered on time, within budget meeting legal and statutory requirements
  • You will need a customer focused and innovative approach, substantial experience in the surveying industry and varied building maintenance disciplines
  • Professional Qualification to Degree Level in Building Surveying or equivalent Professional Body Qualification
