Interim Energy Officer

Start: October 2024

Rate: £350 umbrella Inside IR35

Working Pattern: Flexible Hybrid Working  

Duration: 6 months initially, likely extensions

Our client is seeking an Energy Officer to support and Assist the Energy Manager in analysing current energy practices, benchmarking against industry models, and exploring new options.

The role involves contributing to the development and implementation of a strategic energy strategy roadmap.

This roadmap will encompass resource planning, utilities procurement (electricity, gas, and water), commissioning, and contract management to ensure cost-effective and efficient services while realising immediate savings.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Energy Manager in consolidating energy contracting, improving meter reading and reporting, and undertaking bill validation to recover funds
  • Help in conducting asset condition assessments, developing asset decarbonisation plans, and ensuring compliance with energy certificates
  • Assisting in procuring cheaper, greener energy and supporting the transition towards net zero carbon emissions
  • Working closely with the Energy Manager and other team members, and contributing to building a team of officers in the future

The successful candidate should have:

  • Demonstrated experience in carbon management and delivering energy improvements in a large organisation
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with excellent IT proficiency
  • Exceptional organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in procurement, as well as writing business cases, reports, and funding bids
