A Local Authority Council is seeking a Cyber Security Lead to manage a team that includes a Cyber Security Manager, three Cyber Security Analysts, and an identity and access support role.
The position is available for immediate start and offers a rate that is inside IR35 with a hybrid working arrangement requiring occasional onsite presence.
Key responsibilities include leading the cybersecurity team, implementing security solutions, monitoring threats, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a security-first culture.
Candidates should have experience in a public sector setting, proven cybersecurity leadership, and strong knowledge of security frameworks such as ISO 27001 and NIST.
Relevant certifications like CISSP, CISM, or CEH are required, along with hands-on experience in firewalls, SIEM, and incident response.

We are working with a Local Authority Council who need a Cyber Security Lead who will oversee a team which includes a Cyber Security Manager, 3 Cyber Security Analysts and someone working in identity and access support.

Rate: Inside IR35

Hybrid Working Arrangement: Onsite presence occasional when required

Responsibilities:

Lead and develop the cybersecurity team and strategy
Implement and maintain cutting-edge security solutions
Monitor and respond to threats in real time
Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with industry standards
Educate teams on best security practices and drive a security-first culture

Requirements:

Experience working in a Public Sector Setting preferably Local Government
Proven experience in cybersecurity leadership
Strong knowledge of security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, etc.)
Hands-on experience with firewalls, SIEM, threat detection, and incident response
Ability to communicate complex security issues to technical & non-technical stakeholders
Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent)
