Environmental Protection Officer/Technical Assistant

Start date: September 2024

Rate: £45 - £50 per hour umbrella Inside IR35

Working hours: Full time, 37 hours

Location: Midlands

Working pattern: Hybrid - at least 2 days in the office

Duration of assignment: 6 months (likely extension)

Our client is looking for an Environmental Protection Team Manager on a hybrid basis, for at least 6 months (high likelihood of this being extended).

Responsibilities:

  • Support contaminated land, air quality, private water supplies, and regulation of industrial processes
  • Investigate statutory nuisance complaints and pollution-related anti-social behaviour
  • Advise planning and licensing teams
  • Conduct inspections, investigate complaints, and take appropriate actions
  • Prepare reports and participate in council meetings
  • Qualifications: Relevant degree in Environmental Health or related field preferred
  • Experience: Experience in a similar role, ideally in local government or regulatory environment
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of contaminated land, air quality, private water supply and pollution control
  • Organisational Skills: Strong time management and ability to manage varied workload
