Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Victim Safety Advisor working on either a Permanent 15-hour part-time contract.The salary for this role is £9,724 - £11,100.62 (dependent on experience and qualifications)Due to the nature of the position we ask that you hold a valid driver's license with access to your own car.The Victim Safety Advisor role is a new position which will improve the safety of victims of domestic violence within their homes and communities. The advisor will provide a high quality front line domestic abuse support service, acting as a single point of contact and providing access to the Sanctuary Scheme. As a Victim Safety Advisor, you will provide practical support and safety measures to victims who remain at home.

Due to the service user group and requirements, we can only consider female applicants.

Main duties and responsibilities The victim safety advisor will work with external partners to improve the safety of victims of domestic abuse once they move into the community from refuge, temporary accommodation or living within the community to reduce the risk of violence and abuse. The main function will be to assist them in making their home and environment safe as they settle into the community. The advisor will:

  • Work with partner agencies to receive referrals meeting specific criteria
  • Act as a single point of contact for the Local authority Sanctuary Scheme.
  • Assess current domestic situation identifying risks and agreeing workable solutions and safety measures including target hardening
  • Focus on emotional and practical support to enable a safe and stable home environment.
  • Facilitate engagement in wider community support as necessary

What we're looking for

  • Qualification or training equivalent to minimum level 3 education standard in a relevant topic, such as health and social care
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults and children, acknowledging safeguarding concerns and responding appropriately.
  • Experience of managing complex casework, including issues such as child abuse, mental health, substance abuse, working with trauma in adults and children and crisis intervention.
  • Experiencing of working within a supportive setting for vulnerable people, providing direct support and a needs led service, undertaking risk and needs assessments and support planning, using a variety of intervention tools.
  • Experience of taking referrals for services, gathering information regarding the victim and their circumstances, assessing the information, agreeing needs and identifying risk, understanding the right service to refer on to.
  • Experience of working/liaising within a multi-agency setting with a range of stakeholders and representing clients/organisation at external meetings.
  • Experience of preparing accurate reports for formal settings such as MARAC, case conferences or similar proceedings.
