3rd Line Network Engineer (Field)

Role Overview:

An up and coming MSP is seeking a highly skilled and experienced 3rd Line Network Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert-level support, troubleshooting complex network issues, and contributing to the design and implementation of network improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advanced Troubleshooting and Support:
    • Provide expert-level 3rd line support for complex network incidents related to Cisco Meraki (wireless, switching, security) and Fortigate firewalls.
    • Diagnose and resolve intricate network issues, including routing, switching, VPN, security, and performance problems.
    • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Network Design and Implementation:
    • Contribute to the design, planning, and implementation of network upgrades and expansions, with a focus on Cisco Meraki and Fortigate solutions.
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
    • Implement and manage secure network configurations, ensuring adherence to best practices and security policies.
  • Cisco Meraki and Fortigate Expertise:
    • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Cisco Meraki product lines, including wireless access points, switches, security appliances, and systems manager.
    • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Fortigate firewalls, including VPNs, intrusion prevention, and advanced security features.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest Cisco Meraki and Fortigate technologies and best practices.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience with Cisco Meraki products (wireless, switching, security).
  • Advanced knowledge of Fortigate firewalls and security features.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, VPNs).
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

This role will have a strong field based components and will include travel to various client site offices throughout the UK
