The Role: Senior Design Engineer

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will take on a leadership role, guiding a team of talented engineers to deliver innovative solutions across multiple disciplines. You will have the autonomy to manage resources, improve processes, and ensure quality and efficiency whilst delivering projects that transform user experiences in iconic venues.

This is a unique opportunity to balance technical expertise with leadership, contributing to projects that are completed within 4-12 months, offering both immediate impact and the chance to refine and apply insights for future challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the production of system architecture, detailed specifications, and work schedules for complex engineering systems.
  • Oversee design teams across disciplines, including:
    • WiFi, Ethernet, and IP communications.
    • Audio and voice alarms.
    • CCTV, video, and display systems.
    • DC microgrid power distribution and energy storage.
    • Optical fibre.
    • Bespoke equipment housing.
  • Manage the production of high-quality CAD drawings and review, authorise, and refine designs.
  • Conduct engineering calculations and data analysis to solve complex technical problems.
  • Plan, organise, and oversee design deliverables, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Secure and assign resources for projects while maintaining a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Lead site survey programmes and ensure comprehensive information gathering.
  • Direct commissioning activities, supporting field teams or conducting remote analysis of results.
  • Develop and enhance systems and processes to improve operational performance.
  • Ensure risk assessments and safety standards are consistently followed.

About You:

  • Level 5 NVQ, HND, or degree in engineering, science, or mathematics. Chartered status (or near completion) is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in an engineering environment, with exposure to fieldwork, design, or related roles.
  • Significant experience in engineering environments, including design and fieldwork.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, with a strong analytical mindset.
  • A natural leader with flexibility, tenacity, and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Proven ability to manage diverse systems and engineering processes while maintaining attention to detail.
