Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) in the Black Country area.The Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) works as part of a multi-disciplinary team, alongside a range of professionals, to address the safeguarding needs for victims of domestic violence or abuse and their children.

This is a full-time 37.5 hours (Mon - Fri), permanent role, offering a salary of 拢26,430 - 拢30,596

(dependent on experience) per annum. Travel will be required.Main Duties and Responsibilities

路 Provide day to day domestic abuse expertise for cases where domestic abuse is a risk a factor, whilst screening the domestic abuse cases received via the police on a daily agenda.

路 Carry out research, cross referencing with case management system, to provide relevant information on individuals highlighted by the daily police agenda and any additional cases identified through the MASH service.

路 Co-ordinate referrals into the domestic abuse service, assessing risk and need, prior to setting tasks for the domestic abuse team.

路 Liaise with the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) team to provide information on new referrals into services, including domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking.

路 Identify and create solutions to meet individual needs of victims through MASH, addressing emotional and practical support and advocacy needs, with a goal to reduce the risk level and increase safety.

路 Prioritise high risk cases and ensure that actions look at short to medium term crisis intervention through individual safety planning and risk assessment.

路 Attend high risk strategy meetings for Section 47 enquiries, DART (Domestic Abuse Response Team) and other safeguarding meetings to screen risk to children and families, working with multiple agencies and taking referrals as appropriate.

路 Active participation in MASH case note management system, sharing relevant and appropriate information about cases for other involved safeguarding professionals to access.

路 Ensure data is collated daily, outcomes are recorded, actions are sent in a timely and secure manner and to provide data for quarterly reporting.

路 Recognise, respect and address the needs of service-users who face particular barriers when seeking help to access the advocacy service, including those from hard to reach groups.

路 Deliver training as required to both internal and external candidates to raise awareness of interpersonal violence issues.

路 Ensure that any issues in relation to safeguarding children or vulnerable adults are brought to the immediate attention of the Senior IDVA/manager.

Person Specification

  • IDVA qualification and/or direct experience of working in domestic/sexual violence.Experience of working with vulnerable adults and children, acknowledging safeguarding concerns and responding appropriately.
  • Direct experience of working with victims of domestic abuse in a professional capacity.Experience of managing complex casework, including issues such as child abuse, mental health, substance abuse, working with trauma in adults and children and crisis intervention.
  • Experiencing of working within a supportive setting for vulnerable people, providing direct support and a needs led service, undertaking risk and needs assessments and support planning, using a variety of intervention tools.
  • Experience of taking referrals for services, gathering information regarding the victim and their circumstances, assessing the information, agreeing needs and identifying risk, understanding the right service to refer on to.
  • Experience of working within a formal contracting environment delivering/achieving against a specification and performance targets.
  • Experience of preparing accurate reports for formal settings such as MARAC, case conferences or similar proceedings.
  • Have knowledge of the indicators and dynamics of domestic abuse from both an adult and child perspective and other forms of interpersonal violence, including barriers to accessing services and seeking help.
  • Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children.
  • Have knowledge of complex needs, including problematic substance use, mental health issues and harm reducing interventions.
