Interim Principal Property Surveyor

Location: West Midlands, Hybrid

Contract: Interim, Ongoing

Day Rate: £400-500 per day

Our client, a local authority in the West Midlands, is seeking an experienced Principal Property Surveyor to provide expert property advice, support strategic asset management, and lead on valuations, disposals, and lease negotiations. This is a key role in helping the council manage its land and property portfolio effectively while supporting major projects and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in solving land and property-related issues for council projects and provide expert property advice to internal stakeholders.

  • Conduct land and property valuations for sales, acquisitions, leases, wayleaves, easements, asset valuation, and insurance purposes.

  • Lead on negotiations for property sales, purchases, lease agreements (including renewals and rent reviews), and other property transactions.

  • Support the disposal of surplus properties, working with partners to ensure best value and strategic alignment.

  • Provide strategic property advice to senior officers to enable efficient estate management.

About You

  • RICS-qualified with corporate membership in a relevant faculty.

  • Proven experience working in a professional property environment, MUST be within a local authority setting.

  • Strong knowledge of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 and associated legislation.

  • Expertise in valuation, estate management, and marketing land and buildings.

  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
