Technical Sales Engineer
We are working on behalf of a diverse SME manufacturing company who are looking to expand their West Midlands sites with the recruitment of an experienced Technical Sales Engineer that has a knowledge and contact base within the foundry and/or forging sector.
This is an excellent long-term opportunity to join an established British manufacturer with a history of investment and diversification at a point when they are succession planning and future proofing.
As an experienced Technical Sales Engineer - your primary focus will be to open up and further develop sales and sector involvement for the organisation, whether in aerospace/defence, military, civil engineering and construction, leisure, agriculture, marine, offshore and mining or other varied industrial sectors.
The role will be focused on:
- Primarily to identify and develop sales and sector presence for the organisation.
- Be responsible and adaptable for supporting existing customers across a variety of diverse sectors.
- Manage commercial and contractual issues to maximise revenues and minimise the commercial risk within these sectors. Lead the negotiation of all types of contractual documents from confidentiality agreements to larger collaboration programmes and supply chain agreements.
- Identify and maximise aftermarket opportunities for legacy business, focusing on growth in foundry and forging usage - historical defence markets is one such arena.
- Through identification of new customers, plan and visit these customers completing presentations and attending relevant exhibitions and trade fairs.
- Act as a focal point for internal and customer queries on a day-to-day basis, managing and updating commercial processes ensuring fit for purpose.
To support this role, you should be/have:
- Ideally degree or HND qualified in engineering, a business/sales qualification or equivalent experience.
- Have significant exposure to technical sales of complex and highly engineered solutions within the foundry and forging and or the defence sector.
- Have overall experience within manufacturing with some knowledge of key processes such as bending, fabrication, assembly, welding, materials, forging & using Solidworks for design.
- Have sales and account management experience within engineering, manufacturing, forging or forming environments.
- Experience of negotiating with customers and suppliers, with excellent influencing and communication skills.
- Driving continuous improvement activities with customers, maintaining and strengthening business relations with customers and the industrial, forging and or military markets as a primary focus.
